Connect your email app to MapleMail
Use these IMAP/SMTP settings to add your MapleMail address to Apple Mail, iOS Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, the Gmail app, or any other standard email client. Pick your app below, or use the settings box directly.
Your connection details
These are the same values shown in the webmail app under Settings → Mailboxes → Connect email app. Use them for every client below.
- Username: your full MapleMail address (e.g.
[email protected]) - Password: your mailbox-specific password — not your MapleWorkSuite dashboard login. Generate or reset one from Settings → Mailboxes in the webmail app.
These values work identically for every app on this page — only the screens you click through differ.
A typical "manual setup" screen
Most apps show a form like this when you choose manual/advanced IMAP setup. Field names vary slightly by app, but they map directly onto the settings above.
Pick your email app
βοΈ Apple Mail (macOS)
- Open Mail, then go to Mail → Settings… (or Preferences) → Accounts → the + button → Add Other Mail Account…
- Enter your name, your full MapleMail address, and your mailbox password (see below for where to get it).
- When Mail can't auto-discover the account, choose manual setup and enter the Incoming (IMAP) and Outgoing (SMTP) settings from the box below.
- Save. Mail will verify the connection and start syncing your inbox.
π± Mail (iPhone / iPad)
- Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full MapleMail address, mailbox password, and a description (e.g. "Work Email").
- Tap Next. If prompted to choose IMAP or POP, choose IMAP, then fill in the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server fields from the settings box below.
- Tap Save. iOS will verify the account and add it to the Mail app.
π¨ Microsoft Outlook (desktop)
- Open Outlook and go to File → Add Account (or Settings → Accounts → Add Account on newer builds).
- Enter your full MapleMail address and choose Advanced options → let me set up my account manually, then select IMAP.
- On the incoming/outgoing server screen, enter the settings from the box below, then enter your mailbox password when prompted.
- Finish the wizard — Outlook will connect and begin downloading mail.
π¦ Mozilla Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird and go to Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account…
- Enter your name, full MapleMail address, and mailbox password.
- Click Configure manually and enter the Incoming (IMAP) and Outgoing (SMTP) values from the settings box below — make sure IMAP is selected, not POP3.
- Click Re-test, confirm the certificate, then Done.
π€ Gmail app (Android) / other IMAP apps
- In the Gmail app: Menu → Settings → Add account → Other, then enter your full MapleMail address.
- Choose Personal (IMAP) and enter your mailbox password.
- Enter the Incoming (IMAP) settings from the box below on the "Incoming server settings" screen, then the Outgoing (SMTP) settings on the following screen.
- Save. Most other Android/desktop mail apps (Spark, Edison, K-9, Blue Mail) follow this same "manual IMAP setup" pattern.
βοΈ Any other IMAP/SMTP app
- Any mail client that supports standard IMAP and SMTP will work with MapleMail — there's nothing MapleMail-specific to install.
- Look for an option like "manual setup", "advanced setup", or "other account" during account creation, and choose IMAP (not POP3).
- Enter the server, port, and security settings from the box below exactly as shown.
- Your username is always your full email address, and your password is the mailbox-specific password (not your MapleWorkSuite dashboard login).
Common setup questions
Why doesn't my MapleWorkSuite dashboard password work?
Your dashboard login is separate from your mailbox password on purpose — it keeps your billing/account access isolated from the credentials stored inside individual mail apps. Generate a mailbox-specific password from Settings → Mailboxes → Set / reset password in the webmail app, then use that in your mail client.
My client asks for POP3 instead of IMAP — which do I pick?
Always choose IMAP. IMAP keeps your mail in sync across every device and the webmail app; POP3 downloads mail to a single device and can cause messages to go missing elsewhere.
What do I put for "Username"?
Your full email address (e.g. [email protected]), not just the part before the @.
The connection fails or the client won't verify.
Double-check the port and security type: IMAP must be port 993 with SSL/TLS, and SMTP must be port 587 with STARTTLS. Also confirm you're using the mailbox-specific password, not your dashboard login password.
Can I connect more than one device?
Yes — IMAP is built for this. Add the same account (same server settings, same mailbox password) on as many devices and apps as you like; they'll all stay in sync.
Still stuck?
Double-check the mailbox password from Settings → Mailboxes, or reach out and we'll help you get connected.
